Pflueger had the intentions of storing the mural a new library in City College of San Francisco. However, before this could happen, over 30,000 visitors came to witness for themselves as art was in action. Nonetheless, it was not possible to build the new library where the mural was to be stored after World War II broke in US. Instead, “the mural was stored in a shed on the City College campus for 20 years” (Larrea et al, 1987, p. 29).

Four years after Rivera’s death in 1961, Milton Plflueger, Timothy Pflueger’s brother approached the school board of San Francisco school and requested them to have the mural displayed in the new performing arts theater taking place then at the City College in which it found a home (Rivera, 1999).
