Seen in this way, the study intends to understand employees’ perception about the influence of leadership on future intensions or decisions to stay or leave the organisation.
Although these elements, it can be argued, are not directly linked to the leadership skills of the manager, an understanding of these issues is likely to enable managers to develop strategies to prevent their staff from resigning. In order to investigate the empirical research and commentary on why employees leave organisations, the first section will explore the available literature in this area. The information gleaned from this review will then be used to inform the research objectives.
