Fast foods which are also termed as Junk Food by many nutritionists are considered as the main reasons behind obesity and with their rapidly gaining popularity; the obesity disease has been spreading like a viral infection. Fast food chains like McDonalds, KFC, Wendy’s, Burger King have been opening their outlets all over the world due to high demand of fast foods and the pace at which people are consuming fast foods is alarming (Gilman, 2008, p. 12). People who are suffering from obesity are normally teenagers who are excessively in love with consuming fast food items like burgers, roasters, fries and veggies. With the rate of obesity augmenting at fine pace, many fast food chains have been under the fire mainly through their consumers suing them as the main reason behind their suffering from obesity (Libal, 2004, p. 200).
Recently, parents of two teenagers Ashley and Jazlyn filed a lawsuit against McDonalds. The parents claimed that McDonalds has been selling meals that have not been healthy and that has lead to their daughters gaining excessive weight and eventually being caught up in hands of obesity.
March 2001: it all started with Ashley and Jazlyn paying regular visits to the McDonalds as it was the only fast food outlet on Cranberry Street where their college was located. Students of the college preferred having meals from McDonalds as it was near, convenient and offered fresh meals which included value breakfast, lunch and dinner meals.
