What is Ayn Rand’s argument for the virtue of selfishness? Give your critique.
A9.Ayn Rand explains selfishness as virtue and she understands its meaning as ‘concern with ones own interests’, a person will not be interested in others interests when perusing his own interest he will harm others in doing so. Ayn Rand sees oneself and life and happiness as the ultimate end, such a person is not bothered by others he only wants his desires satisfied.
By selfishness she says one can get happiness by being concerned with own interests and their virtue protects his rational values , he has less competition in the world and achieve his own ends that person only lives for himself and does not care for others. Any Rand explains selfishness is only to live his own life, she is of the opinion to live and disregard others to satisfy yourself.
